Artist's Statement: 

I started van vliet arts in 2005 to bring together my three artistic loves: poetry, painting, and jewelry design. As I explore these different genres, I realize time after time how each informs the other. As I lay down images in a painting or as I choose words and patterns in a poem, I am sharpening the tool I use for choosing color and designs in making a necklace.

Each of my works speaks its own language, arising from the unique elements it is fashioned from—sterling and fine silver wire, Thai silver beads, and semi-precious gemstones from around the world. I fuse and hammer fine silver loops to create the organic forms featured in these pieces. 

This unique line has a distinctive look. Each piece carries my signature mark, a silver bead set off center. Every necklace is one of a kind and is made from distinctive gemstones and hand made silver chain. These pieces are influenced by the landscape, the colors, shapes, streams and lakes of Vermont’s Green Mountains.
